Course Commencement Dates and Term Dates

All programs available at Academia are timetabled to commence their scheduled classes on dates listed below. Classes are scheduled for full-time study at a minimum of two and a half (2.5) days per week. Dates below list the commencement dates for Academia's Vocational (Certificate to Advanced Diploma) nationally accredited Programs.

Orientation will be conducted for all new Students one week prior to commencement date and is compulsory for all students to attend. Please ensure you arrive at 9:00am for a 9.30am start. Timetables, books, uniforms and other materials will be handed out to students on this day. A full induction program will apply for this day.

  1. The Royal National Agricultural (RNA) Show Day (Brisbane only) is held on the Wednesday during the RNA Show period. The RNA Show commences on the first Friday in August, unless the first Friday is prior to 5 August, then it commences on the second Friday of August.
  2. On Tuesday, 30 October 2012, amendments to the Holidays Act 1983 were passed by Parliament prescribing that from 2013, the Birthday of the Sovereign (Queen’s Birthday) public holiday is to be observed on the second Monday in June and the Labour Day public holiday is to be observed on the first Monday in October.
  3. From Christmas Day 2011, the Holidays Act 1983 provides for an extra public holiday to be added when Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day falls on a weekend.
  4. On 13 October 2015 amendments to the Holidays Act 1983 were passed by Parliament prescribing that from 2016, Labour Day public holiday is to be observed on the first Monday in May and the Birthday of the Sovereign (Queen’s Birthday) public holiday is to be observed on the first Monday in October.
  5. On 1 December 2016 an amendment to the Holidays Act 1983 was passed by Parliament prescribing that from 2017, Easter Sunday be appointed as a public holiday.
