- How to adapt your strategies for different children

The Certificate III also includes 120-150 hours of practical work placement in a childcare centre.
When you study childcare with Academia, you become part of a great teaching atmosphere, led by passionate and professional trainers.
Take the first step towards your enriching career in childcare!
Dreaming of a leadership position in a childcare centre, or opening and running your own family day care centre?
The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care builds on the skills acquired in the Certificate III but also helps students understand how to plan, implement, and run various programs in childcare facilities.
You do not need to study the Certificate III to be eligible to study the Diploma.
The Diploma teaches you the fundamentals to become a leader in a childcare centre. This qualification can enable you to work as:
- Room or team leader
- And more!
The Diploma includes 240 hours of practical work placement in a childcare centre.
As part of both of our childcare courses, you’ll be required to participate in placement at an approved childcare facility.
Academia has industry partnerships with more than 70 registered childcare facilities in Brisbane and Melbourne, and will organise placement for you.
Childcare placement is a critical part of your learning, as it is an opportunity to put the skills learnt into practice, during real-life situations.
Career Pathways After Studying Childcare
Childcare, Kinder, or Nursery Assistant
The main responsibility of an assistant is to ensure the safety of the surrounding environment of the children within their care.
You’ll carefully monitor children during play, meal times, nap time, and change nappies or help them in the bathroom.
Childcare educators play a fundamental role of the physical, mental, and emotional development of children within their care.
You’ll see children develop skills they’ll carry throughout life!
As a program leader, your responsibilities extend to creating, planning, and running interactive and educational programs.
These programs are designed to develop and improve multiple facets including motor skills and vocabulary.
Childcare Centre Manager
One of the most senior roles in childcare, a manager is responsible for ensuring their centre complies with all Government standards and regulations and supervises staff.
You are also one of the main points of contacts for parents.
Childcare Centre Director
Responsibilities extend beyond the rooms - you’re also in charge of budgeting, staff problems, paperwork, and developing the curriculum (often in conjunction with your manager).
