DATA BREACH NOTICE:

Academia Institute has experienced a data breach with denial of services late Tuesday 11^th to early Wednesday morning 12^th of July 2023.

We immediately contained and isolated our systems upon determining of the data breach.

Following our last communication about Academia Institute’s systems data breach, we are writing to let you know that we have finished our internal and external investigations, which included engaging specialist cybersecurity consultants.

We are pleased to confirm that there was no data loss, which means that NO personal data was stolen.

We have also redesigned our systems and incorporated additional security to further reduce the risk of future data breaches.

We would like to remind you that every Academia staff member and student is responsible for maintaining our cybersecurity.

We ask everyone to follow cybersafe practices such as:

1. Use strong passwords
2. Turn on 2-step authentication
3. Think before you click
4. Be careful what you share
5. Only use trusted sources of public wi-fi and follow the safety messages outlined here: https://www.vic.gov.au/using-public-wifi-networks-safely
6. Update your software
7. Act immediately if you have identified a data / security breach
