We are delighted to announce that Wen Peng Chang, a talented student from Academia, has been named the AusTafe Best Culinary Student of 2024 and crowned the Victorian Champion! We are very proud of his achievements, which are a testament to the excellence we strive for here at Academia.
At Academia, we aim for excellence, not just for our institution but also for our students. We’re dedicated to providing high-quality education and training to all our students. Our dedicated team of trainers go above and beyond to provide hands-on, practical training and in-depth theoretical knowledge. We empower our students to enter competitions and to put their skills to the test, allowing them to showcase their incredible abilities to the world.
Our culinary training program is designed to cover every aspect of culinary excellence, including teaching our students theoretical knowledge and practical skills in our on-campus commercial kitchens. The journey to the Aus Tafe Culinary Competition was a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and trainers. Training for the VicTafe competition focused on refining our students’ theoretical and practical skills and even included a masterclass on emotional intelligence! We encourage all Academia students to compete in competitions, and our dedicated trainers are always eager to help our students excel in every endeavour.
The Aus Tafe Culinary Competition, held at the Gordon Institute of TAFE in Geelong, brought together 170 competitors from culinary schools across Victoria. The day was filled with anticipation and excitement, ending in an awards ceremony that announced the incredible winners.
Team Academia stood out with their masterfully crafted dishes, ‘Kou Shui Ji Chicken’ and ‘San Bei Chicken.’ Wen Peng Chang’s exceptional skills earned him the top honour, naming him the Victorian Champion and the AusTafe Best Culinary Student of 2024. Adding to the celebration, his teammate Huy Hoang Tran won the Bronze Medal, further showcasing the strength and talent within the Academia community.
We are immensely proud of our students and trainers. Their dedication, hard work, and passion have led to this well-deserved success. The excitement isn’t over yet with Wen Peng Chang going on to represent Victoria in the National Finals! As we look forward to the National Finals, we are confident that Wen Peng Chang will continue to shine, supported every step of the way by our dedicated trainers.
