Need a break from your English course? Brisbane Botanical Gardens is the perfect place to relax
There’s nothing like a little bit of fresh air, nature and a cut lunch to clear the study-induced fog inside your head.
You can pack a picnic with all your favourite foods and sit back on a blanket while catching up with your friends from class.
In fact, you might want to coincide your picnic with the Gigs and Picnics event that is held at the Botanical Gardens at the end of this month.
Free music, picnic food, a fun atmosphere… what better way to relax with good company?
The public event is held monthly and even has food trucks available.
The Brisbane Botanical Gardens also hosts a wide variety of other attractions as well. You can view upcoming events on the Brisbane City Council website, including:

- Exhibitions
- Fitness activities
- Family orientated festivals
Go and see a show with your new friends!
If a quiet, peaceful afternoon isn’t really what you had in mind, how about a night event?
The Brisbane Entertainment Centre has a wide range of shows and concerts coming up from all sorts of genres. There’s bound to be something that you and your friends from your English course would love to see.
What’s more, these also give you a choice to really push your English skills to the limit!

- The Wizard of Oz: 12th-13th July

Whether it is rocking out to a band you love, or sitting back and watching musical theatre production – you are bound to have a lot of fun.
You can make a whole evening of it – maybe get some dinner before hand and head to a local bar for a drink afterwards.

Study English during the week and meet koalas on the weekends!
If there’s one thing Australia is known for, it’s wildlife.
Nowhere else in the world will you find kangaroos, koalas, wombats and more.
Needless to say, it would almost be wrong to complete your English course in Brisbane without seeing one of these creatures!
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is just 12km from the centre of Brisbane. If you ask us, you owe it to yourself to check it out!
The sanctuary is open every day of the week between 9am and 5pm, so booking a date with these furry creatures couldn’t be simpler!
Lone Pine is the world’s largest koala sanctuary, boasting 130 koalas as well as kangaroos and other native Australian animals including:
- Platypuses
- Wombats
- Dingoes
- Echidnas
- Tasmanian devils
- Freshwater crocodiles
