This page contains the information to assist you in making an informed decision to enrol with Academia International. This is a summary of information relating to; training, assessment and support services and your rights and obligations as a student of Academia International.
The information contained on this page is particular to International Students whom enter Australia to study on a student visa.

Academia International has processes to assess that a potential student’s qualifications, experience and English Language proficiency are appropriate for the course for which admission is sought.
Course entry requirements
International student must be aged 18 and above to apply and meet the following requirements.
· Entry to Certificate II, III, IV and English course programs
a) Year 10 (VIC) or equivalent Australian or international qualification as recognised by Academia International
b) Satisfy any entry requirements listed on the individual course pages
· Entry to Diploma course programs
a) Year 12 (VIC) or equivalent Australian or international qualification as recognised by Academia International.
b) Satisfy any entry requirements listed on the individual course pages
English Language Requirements for entrance into VOCATIONAL courses (e.g. Hospitality, Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy)
One of the following criteria* only:
a) An English level of IELTS 5.5 (no band below 4.5) or TOEFL 540
b) Academia International English Language proficiency test
c) An English proficiency of Upper Intermediate level or above from Academia International or a NEAS accredited ELICOS course
d) A degree from a recognised international university majoring in English Language of literature or wholly conducted in English medium.
e) An English medium high school qualification equivalent to Year 10 (VIC) and recognised by Australian educational authorities such as the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training.
*If the English Language Requirements cannot be satisfied, a student can still enrol into our Vocational programs after successfully completing one or more of the English Language courses offered by Academia International (read more).
· Satisfying Academia International’s minimum English and Academic requirements above may not necessarily meet the requirements to apply or renew a Student Visa. You must also review the Student Visa pages or DIAC website.

This section provides a description of the study modes and assessment methods used by each of the Schools within Academia International.
The Hairdressing and Beauty Schools use face-to-face instructor-led training for practical and theoretical units of competency. Skills are demonstrated to students in a functional and operational Hairdressing/Beauty Salon or in a classroom setup with work stations. Students will practise the skills demonstrated until assessed as being competent.
The assessment methods that are typically involved: practical demonstrations/test, written assignments, written exams, role plays or group work.
Resources include textbooks, hand-outs, presentations, hairdressing and beauty therapy facilities, computer lab (with high-speed internet)
The Hospitality Schools use face-to-face instructor-led training for practical and theoretical units of competency. Skills are demonstrated to students in a functional and operational demonstration kitchen or in the commercial kitchens of Academia International and the Langham Hotel or in a classroom for theory units. Students will practise the skills demonstrated in either the commercial/patisserie kitchens of Academia International or the Lanham Hotel, until assessed as being competent.
The assessment methods that are typically involved: practical demonstrations/test, written assignments, written exams, role plays, excursions or group work.
Resources include textbooks, hand-outs, presentations, kitchen facilities, computer lab (with high-speed internet)
The English School uses face-to-face lectures for all modules. The assessment methods that are typically involved: written assignments, written exams, role plays, excursions or group work.

Academia International is recognised as a College delivering quality tuition in Vocational Education and Training. This recognition is demonstrated in the pathways we have achieved to date with quality Institutions in the University and Higher Education sectors. After you complete the Diploma of Hospitality Management THH51202 or the Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management WRH50106 there is an articulation path way into Victoria University's Bachelors of Business (Majoring in Hospitality or Small Business and Entrepreneurship).

Deferment, Suspension and Cancellation of Enrolment
The commencement date of your course (deferment) or the an unscheduled break (suspension also known as a deferment) will only be approved in limited circumstances as per the Deferment, Suspension and Cancellation policy listed in the Student Handbook.
It is important you understand that inappropriate behaviour as per the discipline policy listed in the Student Handbook, non-payment of fees or where Visa regulations have not been adhered to can all lead to your enrolment being cancelled by Academia International.

Academia International is bound by the Education Services for Overseas
Students
(ESOS) Act and related regulations, referred to as the ESOS Framework.
The ESOS framework sets out the obligations of education providers
delivering courses to International Students and the consumer rights of
those students.

If you are a current overseas student, or intending overseas student please be advised that Australian law mandates your obligations to ensure that any *school-aged dependants accompanying you to be enrolled into a school.
*In the state of Victoria, the Education Reform Act 2006 defines school-age as not les than six (6) nor more than sixteen (16) years of age.
Your options for the schooling of your school-aged dependants are:
· Government Schools - search for a government school in the state of Victoria

Non-Government Schools (including schools of different religions )
- search for a non-government school in the state
of Victoria

Academia International provides a number of Support Services to students. There are Student Welfare Officers within the college to consult on these and other services. The Student Welfare Officers will counsel students and may provide free referrals to external parties as necessary where the service is not provided within the college or the student has a support need not offered by the college.
